Achaval Ferrer
In Spanish, Quimera means an impossible ideal, something winery president Santiago Achaval is striving towards with his Bordeaux style Argentinian wines.
Winemakers from just about any region in the southern hemisphere agree that the concept of terroir is relevant to fine wines the world over. The French have had centuries to explore and perfect the matching of grapes with vineyard sites, and the study of terroir is only gaining in sophistication.
The Achaval Ferrer vineyard is situated alongside the Tunuyan River in the south-western section of the Uco Valley. Sandy soils with a mix of gravel and boulders allows a minerality in the wine, creating a true Mendoza, Argentina identity.
