About the Vineyard
Melness Wines was founded in 1990 by Norma and Colin Marshall. This small vineyard is situated to the north-west side of the Canterbury Plains where hot north-west winds and cool nights have consistently produced medal winning wines.
The name "Melness" was chosen in remembrance of Norma's grandfather, David Paton McKay, who settled on the Banks Peninsular in the 1860's. He was born in the far north of Scotland, in the small coastal village of Melness.
The winemakers Lynnette Hudson and Matthew Donaldson of Pegasus Bay have combined grapes grown from vineyards in Marlborough. This combination has produced award winning wines in each vintage. view other products
